91. Anbulla Rajinikanth

This is a very sad piece from Anbulla Rajinikanth. Moved to tears with the prayer song from the children and the penultimate singing by Maestro. Posting with a heavy heart.

90. Sri Ezhumalaiyan Mahimai

This movie is dubbed from Sri Edukondala Swami (Telugu). The video below has a divine melody, composed for the divine romance :) This has the instrumental version of Endha jenmam song which was sung by Maestro himself (voicing for Lord Venkatesa) with his usual, beautiful adornments to the song's theme. The movie had another spell binding song 'Nanmai naalum nalgum' composed in Chandrajyothi raga (resembles Partha vizhi song from Guna).

Now you would understand why laddus are offered to the Lord of Tirupati :).

89. Aditya 369

This film which came out in the 90s, had the theme of Time Machine. The hero would travel between past (Krishnadevaraya period) and the future (2100s, people living underground after nuclear wars) to retrieve the magical stone and to save it from the present day villain.

The movie directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao was very different for those times, so was the title score which was futuristic. This movie had fascinated me during my school days, used to enjoy the humorous situations the hero faces in the Vijayanagar empire.

Enjoy the title score (scientist inventing the Time Machine) from the link below. He simply mirattified with the classical strings score.

88. Mallepuvvu

While watching the Telugu movie Mallepuvvu, I noticed that for the title music, Maestro has used the voiceless track of the song Suvvi Suvvi (especially the charanam) from the same movie. I don’t know if he has done like this earlier. Please hear it for yourself and decide.

For the climax scene from the same movie, he has used the instrumental version of Chandamama raave, with his trademark silences in the BGM. This is one of those many movies which has a climax in the airport (earlier it used to be railway stations, remember Mouna Ragam?) I will post Swarna Kamalam soon, which has a similar climax in airport.

Please post your comments on how you liked this one.

87. Aa Dinagalu

Dear friends, This is the climax scene from Aa Dinagalu where Sihi Gaali song theme is used. First Maestro increases the viewer's tension with his silence and intermittent strings which slowly peaks to the climax with the song theme peeking out from the corner. It assumes a full proportion when the movie closes.

Going with the movie's theme, the whole film has a subtle, but menacing BGM, which is intertwined with dialogues. This is the only lengthier portion I could extract. Please enjoy the movie on an original 5.1 DVD available at Bangalore for Rs.100. The audio and video quality are excellent.

86. Kozhi Koovudhu

I recently saw Kozhi Koovudhu which had beautiful, immortal songs by Maestro like Edho mogam and Poove ilaiya poove. The movie also had an excellent BGM as usual, more so, because it was his home production. I have shared two BGM themes – one for Viji and the other for the comedy track of Bindugosh.

For Viji, he has built upon Edho mogam song theme layering it with a rustic humming by himself, thandha naana naaa and peppering it with strings (double bass) and a sustained strings motif. He uses the same theme for a sad situation (Viji’s betrothal with another person), adding wailing violin passages (Indian type) as counterpoint.

For the comedy theme involving Bindugosh, he has given a small but beautiful WCM flourish in waltz beat. Listen to it yourself and enjoy both the tracks.
