86. Kozhi Koovudhu

I recently saw Kozhi Koovudhu which had beautiful, immortal songs by Maestro like Edho mogam and Poove ilaiya poove. The movie also had an excellent BGM as usual, more so, because it was his home production. I have shared two BGM themes – one for Viji and the other for the comedy track of Bindugosh.

For Viji, he has built upon Edho mogam song theme layering it with a rustic humming by himself, thandha naana naaa and peppering it with strings (double bass) and a sustained strings motif. He uses the same theme for a sad situation (Viji’s betrothal with another person), adding wailing violin passages (Indian type) as counterpoint.

For the comedy theme involving Bindugosh, he has given a small but beautiful WCM flourish in waltz beat. Listen to it yourself and enjoy both the tracks.
