76. Yajaman

Today's selection is from Yajaman. The first piece, the introduction theme for Meena, is repeated again in the next scene when she brings snacks. This piece is a good example for usage of tremolo strings.

The next one is for a comic cum sentiment scene. As is customary, Rajini wants to get a gift for Meena, as she is pregnant. But Meena asks for a trivial thing like butterfly. The music is very lively for the mood.

Oru naalum unai maravadha - this is a bit song by Maestro, when Meena dies. It unintrusively takes the story to the next level.

Dear Venky:
You have a great knack of spotting captivating pieces that went unnoticed otherwise by music listeners (like the Butterfly sequence). I am sure from Raaja's point of view the effort taken to compose those tracks are as much as the songs that he gave.. If not for people like you, we will never re-visit such gems.. So thanks for that..

Coming to the Tremolo, its infact a superb Tremolo. Two things I want to bring it to your attention.
1.) Before the Violin Tremolo starts, the stage is set by Keyboard Tremolo (When Rajini is tickling Meena's feet ); Even though Tremolo in modes similar to this (a Santoor like mode that has been used by Raaja before such as the prelude of Manna Koorai Chelai), Its the first time I notice such a assymmetrical Tremolo like this ..
2.) The way how Raaja divides a bar of music is widely acclaimed and its also well demonstrated in the Strings Tremolo track. Its set to perfect Waltz. The metronome is well shown in the background as 1 2 3 1 2 3 and so on; But the beauty is the first two counts are played by Double bass + Cello, while the 3rd count is plaed by the Pizzicato strings. Most exceptional arrangement
With Love
